Welcome to the Entwine Blog!

First off, I want to say thank you for taking the time to visit the club's blog! This is where you can see what we're discussing during our meetings, upcoming events or activities, and when the next meetings are. Another nifty thing about this here blog is that you can leave feedback! If you have any comments or suggestions, go ahead and leave them here (or after whatever post is relevant to your comment) and you'll not only receive replies from me, but you can also receive replies from fellow club members!

Now that the introduction is finished, let's get to business shall we?

From Wednesday, February 3rd's Meeting:

Trips:

So, for the past few meetings we have been talking about visiting the Gerding Theater. Our Vice President has contacted an employee there, and she said that March 4th would be a good time to visit. We're meeting at 4:45pm inside the front door of the Gerding Theater, instead of the classroom where we normally meet. We were also asked to be prepared with questions, as well as to figure out what shows are coming up that we would be interested in.
Some things that we are prepared to ask are "What is the process?", "How long does the process take?", "Do you rent garments, buy them from a thrift store, or...?".
We would also like to see the sketches from the process and costumes.

We have also been talking about visiting the Portland Opera for a dress rehearsal. We would like to see a show that one of our own faculty is designing for, and this show will be opening sometime in March. We're shooting to visit around Week 8.
We are hoping to have more information soon...

As for the plan to visit the Theatre De La Mode, we have been told that a proposal has to be written to STAC (Student Action Committee) for us to get the funds, and the ride. Patricia Crockett is in the process of doing that.

Donations/Volunteering:

The donation boxes for Abby's Closet will be going away THIS FRIDAY. Have you donated a prom dress yet? Remember, they don't have to be perfect, but the do have to be at least fixable!

Another organization that we may want to get involved with is Dress for Success. They are an organization that provides career-wear to those who are on the hunt for a job and can't afford to purchase the appropriate clothing themselves. One of the requirements for us to be involved in this is that we would have to attend a mini class. They have volunteered to send someone to one of our meetings to speak to us, if we'd like.

Fundraisers:

We are still in the process of finding suppliers who are willing to donate fabric for our Fabric Sale. Currently we don't have much that would be very useful to sell. However, we are trying to get in contact with some businesses that could be generous to our cause.

There have also been discussions about setting up a raffle for near-stage tickets to the AIPD Fashion Show on June 5th. We are going to ask Sue Bonde if this would be OK.

In-Meeting Activities:

Because Entwine is also an education-based club, we would like to do some activities, or workshops. The current ideas are:
-Knitting scarves.
-Screen-printing.
-Silk scarf painting and/or beading.
-Making a ham.
